Life is Curveballs
Posted 2008/05/27 00:37In baseball, the role of the pitcher is very important. It is the type of balls that they throw, and where the pitcher is located that determines if the better gets a hit or gets out.
A curveball is ball that comes into the zone that looks like it is very hittable but at the very last second dives down or to the side and you just simply miss. In life, God is the pitcher and sometimes unexpected and unwanted hardships are thrown our way. It is how we deal with life's curveballs that define our true character. James tells us that when we are faced with trials that we should consider it pure joy because it is a test of out faith and it develops our perseverance.
When hardships come, God is not sitting in heaven wishing for you to fail. Rather he desires for us to persevere. With the recent tragedies in China and Myanmar, no one is wishing for them to spiral into even darker times, but we all want them to regroup and persevere through their hardship. God is the same way, he tested many people in the Bible but never once did he wish for them to fail the test. When you are faced with hardships, God is always there waiting for you to strive through the hardship and lean on him more.
